The Arts Confronting Polluted Oceans

from Monday May 11, 2026 until Tuesday May 12, 2026

Auditorium de la Grande Galerie de l’évolution, Journées entières

The international symposium *The Arts Confronting Polluted Oceans* aims to foster a new line of thinking—emerging from the intersection of artists’ and scientists’ work—on the issue of marine pollution. By addressing major types of ocean pollution (nuclear, plastic, chemical, or biological), we will collectively reflect on how these phenomena require—in order to be understood and accounted for—unprecedented collaborations between artists and scientists. Beyond the extraordinary vitality of the arts-science relationship—which this conference will revisit—it aims, more fundamentally, to lead us to rethink humanity’s place within the oceanic ecosystem.
