Craig Santos Perez

Craig Santos Perez is an indigenous Chamoru from the Pacific Island of Guam. He is the co-editor of eight anthologies and the author of six books of poetry and the academic monograph Navigating Chamoru Poetry: Indigeneity, Aesthetics, and Decolonization.

 

Born in 1980, Craig Santos Perez is a Chamoru poet from the island of Guåhan (Guam), an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the northwestern Pacific. After earning a PhD at Berkeley, he became a university professor. He has received numerous awards, including the National Book Award. Throughout his body of work, he creates space for the voices of Indigenous peoples from the Pacific Islands to be heard.
