Viri Taimana

Visual artist, author, orator Director of the Centre des Métiers d’Art de la Polynésie française

Viri Taimana is a Mā’ohi visual artist, author in Tahitian, orator and the Director of the Centre des Métiers d’Art (CMA — Centre for Arts and Crafts of French Polynesia) since 2006.

 

Taimana has also been an administrateur for the Musée de Tahiti et des Îles since 2006. From 2015 to 2020, he was a member of the scientific and educational advisory board of the École Supérieure du professorat et de l’éducation of the Université de Polynésie française. Taimana is the co-founder of ‘Ōrama Studio, a collective of artists set up in 2015 and is also the co-founder of Pūtahi i Tahiti, an artistic and cultural event that has taken place in Oceania since 2010. Taimana was also an art teacher at the École supérieure d’art de Toulon Provence Méditerranée, in France, from 1998 to 2006 where he taught arts and crafts and digital art.
